First Confession and Holy Communion
First Confession and first Holy Communion are usually celebrated when a child is in Year 3. First Confession is made in Lent and First Holy Communion around the Feast of Corpus Christi.
Preparation is based in the parish and takes place on an evening (6.00pm – 7.00pm) in the parish rooms, though the teachers in the school support the instruction in school time, and a celebration takes place in school the week after First Holy Communion.
Parents will be informed by letter at the start of the Spring term when the preparation is taking place.
First Confession is celebrated within the context of a Lenten Penitential Service at St Bede's.
First Holy Communion is usually celebrated in both Forty Martyrs' (Saturday evening) and St Bede's (on Sunday) with the children celebrating at the Mass they normally attend.
PLEASE NOTE: Children who do not regularly attend Mass will not be able to take part in the sacramental preparation.
Adults would make their first Confession in Lent and celebrate their Confirmation and First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil.
